James K. Smith, age 85 of Eminence, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023.  Son of the late Joseph Henry and Lucille Josephine (Gognat) Smith, he was a United States Navy Veteran, serving overseas in Cuba. He was a skilled mason for all his working life throughout the surrounding counties. An avid golfer, he was a lifetime member of the Henry County Country Club and had a hole in one. He was an unapologetic, passionate University of Kentucky Wildcat fan and an outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and fish. Although he had a large family, he had more than enough love to go around. James was preceded in death by a daughter, Vivian Lynn (Hasting) Budd; a son, Timothy Smith, Sr.; a brother, Joseph “Sonny” Smith; and a grand-daughter, Daphnie Mangrum.

Funeral Service:     11 AM on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home, officiated by Minister Walter Collins.

Visitation:  9 AM until service time on Friday at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.
