Jerry Cavanaugh, age 75 of Port Royal, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023.   Son of the late Lloyd and Beatrice (Stevens) Cavanaugh, he served his country faithfully as a Staff Sergeant-8 in the Army/National Guard reserves and was stationed overseas in Iraq and Honduras.  Jerry had several duties throughout his service as radio operator, tank operator, engineer, chef & Military Police.  He served as the Auxiliary Commander of DAV Unit 155 & was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.  Jerry was preceded in death by a son, Chris Cavanaugh; his step-father, Bill; two brothers: Melvin & Jimmy Cavanaugh; sister, Mary Starling; and a grandson, Justin Starling; son-in-law, Bobby Manley; and brother-in-law, Wayne Morgan.

Funeral Service:    1 PM on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Mike Frey.

Burial: Port Royal Cemetery

Visitation:  4-8 PM on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Friends may also visit from 11 AM until service time on Saturday.
