John Lee “Wee Wee” Lindsay, age 81 of Louisville passed away Friday, July 29, 2022. He was a member of the First Baptist Church Eminence and worked at Fishers Packing Company for over 35 years. Dedicated to his country, he was a United States army veteran. A sports enthusiast, he integrated Eminence HS being the first black athlete to play and excel in both football and baseball. He was selected to be on the North Central Kentucky Conference All Star football team during his senior year. John was also an avid fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats, Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Dodgers and local High School sports teams. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending church services.

He was preceded in in death by his mother, Ruth (Hoskins) Smith; father, Willie John Lindsay; son, Shannon Lindsay; sisters, Anna Frances Witherspoon and Phyllis Lindsay; and brothers, Robert Lindsay and Logan Smith.

Wife, Anna Elizabeth (Foree) Lindsay of Louisville, Daughter, Ivette Lindsay of Louisville, Son, Cedric Lindsay (Janice) of Cincinnati, Grand Daughter Courtlynn Love (Alex) of Houston, Sisters, Delores Lindsay of Louisville, Mildred Jordan (Ray) of Nashville, Brothers, Gary Lindsay (Patsy) of Louisville, Harold Lindsay (Alma) of Eminence and a host of nieces, nephews.


Funeral Service: 12PM Noon Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Charles Duncan.


Interment: New Castle GUOOF Cemetery


Memorial contributions may be given to the National Association for Black Veterans Kentucky Tri-County Chapter 125, Post Office Box 784, LaGrange, Kentucky 40031.


Visitation:  10 AM until the time of service Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.


Dinner will be served for family and friends at the Eminence High School (gymnasium) immediately following the service - 254 West Broadway, Eminence, Kentucky 40019.
