Addeline Mae “Addie” (Armstrong) Hayden,  age 92, passed away August 7, 2024.  She was born on May 24, 1932 to the late George Lee Armstrong and Lorena (Crawford) Armstrong.  Addie was the second-born of ten children.  She was a member of First Baptist Church,

Eminence, where she served as a member of the Alter Guild, which she loved, as well as her good cooking.  She attended Lincoln Institute in Simpsonville, KY.  She was a domestic worker for many homes in

Prospect and also worked at Brunswick in Eminence.  She loved antiques and refinishing them. She loved sewing and making dresses and other outfits for her two daughters and other friends & family. 

 

Addie was preceded in death by her late husband of 61 years, Alfred Hayden, Sr., and four siblings:  Louise (Armstrong) Nichols, Patricia (Armstrong) Whitney, Gloria Armstrong and George Armstrong, Jr.

 

Addie leaves to mourn her passing, five children: Josephine Higgins, Eric Paul Bachelor (Brenda), Stanley Williams, Alfred Hayden, Jr., Ernestine

Hayden, and a step-son, Vance Blade (Vivian).  She is also survived by five siblings: Elizabeth “Libby” (Armstrong) Mullins, Margaret (Armstrong) Goodloe, William “Bill” Armstrong (Marla), Gracie Mae Armstrong and Geraldine Armstrong.

 

She was a proud grandmother of nine:  Jamar Higgins Cook (Khary), who so diligently and lovingly stayed and cared for her, Curtis Higgins, Jr. (Alisa), Crystal Higgins, Brendon Bachelor (preceded in death), Erica Bachelor, Pia Williams, Stanley Williams, Jr. (Leticia), Chris Demaree (Jasmine), Ernestine “Niecey” Hayden; and two step-grandchildren:

Olivia Blade and Percy Blade (Dani).  There are fifteen great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She also wanted to acknowledge a best friend, whom she dearly loved and missed, preceding her in passing, Elizabeth Bailey. 

 

 

FUNERAL SERVICE:  1 PM on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Eminence First Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Robert Fields.

 

INTERMENT:   Eminence Cemetery

 

VISITATION:   5-8 PM on Monday, August 12, 2024 and from 11 AM until service time on Tuesday at Eminence First Baptist Church.
