Our beloved mother, Betsy Jane Lindsey, 82 passed away on Tuesday October 17, 2017.  3 days shy of her 83rd birthday.

Mom was born October 20th, 1934 to the late Gus Raymond Devine and Mary Cheak Devine of Smithfield KY.  She graduated from Henry County High School and was a member of Christ Church United Methodist, Brownsboro Rd., Louisville KY.

Mom loved her children, grandchildren and her great grandchild.  They brought her great joy and were the center of her life.  She also enjoyed special relationships with her extended family of in laws and childhood friends of her son and daughter.  There is not a pond or creek around Henry County that we didn’t dip a line in to fish with her.  Nothing fancy, a simple cane pole and worm was all she needed.  She was an animal lover and never denied us a pet dog, duck or even the occasional snake. She had many craft based skills and passions.  Our early memories are filled with days exploring the countryside for antiques and auctions.  Mom was the original “American Picker”.  Turning discarded milk cans into kitchen stools complete with a tractor seat.  She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and most recently basket making.  She also took great joy in working in her yard and keeping her home spotless.  All while looking like she could walk off the pages of southern living magazine.  She loved family gatherings and making her “mac and cheese” for the grandchildren.  You could never fail in mom’s eyes.  She loved all unconditionally.

Betsy was preceded in death by her husband and our father, Louis Lee Lindsey Sr.  She is survived by daughter, Kathy Lynn Miller (Terry) and son, Louis Lee Lindsey Jr. (Terry Kelly).  Grandchildren Courtney Kelly, Megan Christenbury, Jessie Lindsey and Jackson Lindsey. She is also survived by Great grandchildren, Catherine Jane Kelly and baby Christenbury. A sister, Patricia Hatton and brother Michael Devine. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral arrangements by Prewitt Funeral Home, New Castle KY.  A graveside service will be held Friday Oct 20th at 1:00 pm at Smithfield cemetery, Smithfield KY.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the staff at Belmont Village St. Mathews and Hosparus Health for the care they gave mom over the past year.

In lieu of gifts of sympathy, please consider a donation to Hosparus Health.  They are truly earth bound angels.
