Nancy Louise (Louden) Gravile

Our family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  As many of you know, she has been suffering from what started as ovarian cancer for some time.  While our family will never be whole again, we are relieved that her passing was peaceful and that her days of pain are no more.
Nancy Louise Gravile was born on September 14, 1950 to the late Whitaker and Lottie Pauline Louden. Married to Paul W. Gravile for the last 47 years, she was a loving mother to Linda, Paula, Courtnee and Darin; a wonderful MawMaw to BJ, Steven ”Twiggy,” Mariah, Logan, Kendall and later to Chelsea, Katie, Cameron, Caleb, Aspen, Liam, Baby Drew; and the very best Great-Grandmother to Serenity & Paislee.
Nancy leaves behind 5 brothers: Whitaker Louden Jr. of Pendleton, Charles Edward Louden of Sulphur, Clyde Hartman Louden of Bedford, James Allen (Jimmy) Louden of Bedford and George Houston Louden of Bedford. She is also leaving behind 2 of her sisters: Alice Laverne Raisor of New Castle and Linda Lou Robison of Pendleton. She was however, proceeded in death by two sisters, Angie Bell Brierly of Milton & Stella Pearl Lee of Pendleton, and her beautiful sister-in-law, Josefa (Pepita) Louden, of Pendleton.
Nancy had four sons-in-law that cherished, cared for and loved her deeply: Steven Tillett (Stick) of New Castle, Bruce McClellan of Eminence, Lee Hysinger of Simpsonville and Rick Mathis of Eminence; as well as her lifelong best friend, who never left her side and provided so much peace and comfort, Martha Marlow Payton of Eminence.  Over the years, Nancy was fortunate enough to have close relationships with her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Joe Scott, Dianna Louden, Joanne Louden, Sue Louden and the late Mount Raisor, Bernard Lee, Alvin Brierly and Pepita Louden.
Together with Paul, Nancy spent her entire life dedicated to raising, loving and caring for their children and grandchildren. Never again will there be a woman who worried so much, felt so deeply, and gave so unselfishly to her family. Even in the worst of days, full of pain and discomfort, she made sure that everyone else was cared for first. Nancy passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the home of her daughter, Paula and son-in-law Stick, surrounded by her big, crazy, loving family.
Memorial Contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at PO Box 1000 (Dept. 142) Memphis, TN 38101.
