Betty Jean Chisholm Grubbs

Born – August 19, 1932

Deceased – December 5, 2024

Betty passed away at Carmel Manor in Fort Thomas, Kentucky at the age of 92.  For the past 10 years Betty had suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.  Our family was blessed, although confused at times, she continued to ask about her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family members, and friends until her death.  Mama was a devout Christian, a devoted wife and mother.

In 2012, Betty visited the Holy Lands and was baptized in the Jordan River, which had been a lifelong goal for her. She and Lincoln (her husband of 60 years) enjoyed traveling and camping with friends.  After retiring from Brunswick with 35 years of service, she and Lincoln moved to South Texas where she resided for over 30 years.  She loved the sunny weather in the Rio Grande Valley, became active in several quilting guilds, the Alamo Garden Club, volunteered at the Alamo Chamber of Commerce, going to the beach, volunteering at Donna United Methodist Church, singing alto in the church choir, and enjoyed attending and teaching Bible Study classes with her peers.  Prior to moving to Texas, Betty was a member of the Pleasant View Methodist Church in Franklin County where she served as the church treasurer for over 20 years.

Betty is survived by her daughter Karen Grubbs Woodward (Michael), eleven grandchildren: Christopher Woodward, Nora Carlin, Jacob Grubbs, Josiah Grubbs, Jediah Grubbs, Hannah Grubbs, Leah Grubbs, Micah Grubbs, Caleb Grubbs, Jesse Grubbs, David (Jeremiah) Grubbs: 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents David Chisholm and Nora Belle Beverly Chisholm, Lincoln Grubbs, and her 2 sons Gary and David Grubbs, her sibling’s James Chisholm, Naomi Ethington, Jessie Orihood, Rosa Belle Hughes, and Mary Dawson.

Memorial services: 12 NOON on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Reverend Larry Rhodes, Betty’s great-nephew will preside over the memorial services. Visitation is scheduled from 10AM until the service time at Noon.
