Alice Joan Stottmann, Age 77 of Louisville, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Daughter of the late Faye Mckenzie and Eloise (Bovard) Ormsby, Joan was a lifelong learner and schoolteacher. Beginning at Bowen Elementary, she taught for 25 years throughout Jefferson County Public Schools at St. Matthews, Blake and finally Chancey Elementary, where she retired from in 2009. A very active and giving person, she was a dedicated volunteer at Norton Brownsboro Hospital and with the Louisville Visitors Bureau. A faithful Christian, she was a member at Beargrass Christian Church. Her favorite past times included reading romance novels, doing puzzles, and playing bunco.

Sons:                              Jonathan Ormsby Stottmann (Jessica) of Louisville

                                      David Stottmann (Erin) of Elizabethtown

 

Sister:                             Sharon Faye McGurk of Lexington

 

8 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild

 

Service: 2 PM on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home with Dr. Trey Flowers, Senior Minister at Beargrass Christian Church.

 

Interment: New Castle Cemetery

 

Memorial Contributions:   St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital

 

Visitation: 10 AM until the time of service on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.
