Wanda Fay (Kemper) Weeks, age 89 of New Castle passed away Friday, January 24, 2025, at New Castle Nursing and Rehab with her loving daughter and granddaughter by her side. Born on Thursday, August 22, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Lyle & Elizabeth “Lizzy” (Grant) Kemper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved Husband, Reverend James Weeks and her sister, Alberta Stivers. Mrs. Weeks touched the lives of everyone who crossed her path. Leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, generosity, and faith in Christ Jesus. She always wore a beautiful smile that would without a doubt, light up the room. When you encountered her, you were sure to receive a warm hug and followed by her notorious greeting, “blessings on you”.

She graduated Salutatorian from Henry County High School in 1953, before going on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Asbury College in 1957. A lifelong learner, she continued her education at both the University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky University completing her respective master’s degrees in 1958 and 1960. Teaching and music were her passion. She taught all ages throughout her lengthy career, from preschool, elementary, middle and high school and even college classes. Her remarkable career spanned throughout several decades and throughout five different states, earning her the teacher of the year award on three separate occasions. Even after her retirement, she substitute taught and was awarded the substitute teacher of the year twice by Henry County Public Schools. She was loved and remembered by so many students that she had a profound impact on, including some of whom were employed at New Castle Nursing and Rehab, where she has lived for the past seven years.

Wanda spent her life honoring and loving the Lord, serving as a pastor’s wife, alongside her Husband Reverend James Weeks. She directed choirs and played the piano, and accompanied her Husband, as they performed in many churches. Always involved in the activities of the church, she led holiday cantatas, vacation bible school, women’s ministries, and taught Sunday School.  A passionate missionary, she traveled across the world to Jamaica, Mexico and to Honduras twice, loving the people and spreading the gospel to children. Ms. Wanda always put God first, then family, allowing God to guide her steps and lead her family. She was an amazingly devoted mother to her two daughters, Tamara and Becky, setting a godly example and sharing her talents and musical skills with them. Her legacy will live on in the lives of her children and grandchildren for generations to come.

What a gift she was to every life she encountered throughout her 89 years on this earth. “Blessings On You”.
